So, What Can It Do?
Assessment
XpressLab provides a variety of methods for assessing the oral language skills of students and content mastery in any subject area.
Self-assessment activities build condidence by increasing the opportunity for practice in school and beyond the classroom. Modern language students are able to practise speaking in the target language in private using model answers provided by the teacher for feedback. Activities are customized by teachers to match the themes being covered in class. Through practice, students become better prepared and more confident about speaking in front of their classmates. Self-assessment activities in any subject area allow students to review course content in preparation for tests and other assignments.
The oral discussion forum and the student journal provide opportunities for authentic communication and extended speech. These activities provide teachers with documentaiton related to the development of student oral communication skills and they offer opportunities for individualized student mentoring.
XpressLab has two testing tools. Mastery-style tests encourage students to provide their best possible work for evaluation by allowing them to re-record answers to test questions until they are satisfied with their responses. Timed tests require students to answer questions within a pre-set period of time. This allows teachers to evaluate language fluency in a simulated real-life situation or to simulate an interview or a conversation.
Student presentations allow students to showcase what they have learned in a creative, interesting and persuasive manner.
